SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller for Mercedes-Benz SL R230 now with Keyless-Go Top Operation 1/2

The SmartTOP add-on kit for Mercedes-Benz SL R230 made and offered by Mods4cars allows owners to use the console switch while driving at slow speeds of up to 60 km/h (~38mph). All that is needed is a quick touch to start full automatic top operation. The top can also be controlled with simple, intuitive commands from the original remote key fob.

Additionally all SmartTOP modules offer a host of bonus features aimed at making the convertible top experience more enjoyable. The SmartTOP module for SL R230 now received a firmware update adding another feature: Keyless-Go operation on cars equipped with the factory start/stop button feature. Mods4cars now ships the SmartTOP add-on kits for the Mini Convertible and the BMW 1 Series Convertible with the new Mods4cars module enclosure. This custom designed enclosure impresses with its slim, form fitting design and two LEDs for quick and simple installation. Thanks to the smaller size the module can easily be installed in even tighter locations in the car.

“We are happy to announce the switch to the new product enclosure on the SmartTOP modules designed for Mini and BMW 1 Series.” says PR-Manager Sven Tornow. “The sophistication of our products is now also apparent from the outside.” The smart add-on modules with their useful features make day-to-day use of the convertible top more convenient and more fun.

With a SmartTOP module installed, owners can open or close the convertible top at slow speeds of up to 40 km/h (~28 mph). A quick tap is enough to start full automatic operation. It is not necessary any longer to hold down the switch for the entire time. The driver’s hands are back on the wheel quickly.

“Especially Mini owners will appreciate the one-touch feature greatly, since they can now choose the desired outcome when pressing the button.” Sven Tornow continues. A single touch opens the sunroof. A double tap opens the sunroof and the convertible top. A triple tap opens the sunroof, convertible top and windows. “Owners can quickly select what they want and the whole operation is carried out fully automatically: Either just the sunroof or the whole convertible top, and whether the windows should be up or down after the top operation finishes.” Sven Tornow concludes.

Full automatic one-touch operation is also possible from a distance by using the original key fob remote. Not having to hold down any buttons means convenience and saving time. The SmartTOP customer may even get in the car and start driving while the top still operates. No changes are necessary to the key fobs or the receiver system.

SmartTOP modules all come with additional bonus features. A few examples are one-touch operation for the windows from the console switch, automatic mirror folding and unfolding on the BMW 1 Series and options to unlock the doors when turning the ignition off. An extended mode can be activated that allows a top operation to continue even when the engine is being started or stopped. The entire module can also be disabled temporarily while retaining all user configurable settings.

Another standard feature on all SmartTOP products is the integrated USB port for quick and simple configuration and firmware updates. Updates are free of charge and support software is available for Windows and Mac. The SmartTOP kit comes with a custom designed plug-and-play wiring adapter that allows simple installation by connecting the module to the vehicle electronics.

SmartTOP Add-On Top Module for Jaguar F-Type Convertible now available 1/2

The SmartTOP kit aftermarket automotive electronics specialist Mods4cars announced in August for the Jaguar F-Type Convertible is now available and in stock. “After completion of the first production run of the custom designed Plug-and-Play wiring adapters, the first modules were shipped in mid-November.” explains PR-Manager Sven Tornow. “We already received positive feedback as well.” he continues.

The add-on SmartTOP kit offered by Mods4cars makes top operation more convenient by enhancing the console switch with one-touch operation. It is no longer necessary to hold down the switch for the entire time. A quick touch is enough to start a full automatic opening or closing cycle. Additionally it is programmable if the windows should open or close afterwards.

SmartTOP also allows remote control of the top from the original key fob. SmartTOP add-on Convertible Top Controller for Audi A3 Cabriolet now available 1/2

The SmartTOP add-on Convertible Top Controller for the new Audi A3 Cabriolet is now available. This marks the fifth new product release by Mods4cars this year. “We are happy to be able to offer our SmartTOP kit so soon after the Audi A3 Cabriolet got introduced.” says PR-Manager Sven Tornow. The module can be installed quickly and offers some neat, intelligent features that make daily life with the convertible more enjoyable and fun.

The SmartTOP brings convenient one-touch operation to the console top switch. It is no longer necessary to hold the switch for the entire duration of the operation. A quick tap is enough to set the top in motion and fully automatically open or close it. SmartTOP customers get both hands back on the steering wheel immediately.

Additionally it is possible to control the convertible top and the windows from the original key fob remote while the car is parked. A quick key combination starts a full automatic top operation. “The top can already be opened while still walking up to the car. And of course it is possible to quickly close the top from afar at the first sign of impending rainfall.” Sven Tornow continues. Neither the keys nor the receiver system needs to be modified.

Like every other SmartTOP product, this one for the Audi A3 Cabriolet comes with some bonus features. The windows can be controlled separately from the top by remote. The top can be controlled from the door handle on cars equipped with the keyless entry system. It is possible to reverse the direction of the console switch if desired. An extended mode can be activated which allows turning the engine on or off while the top continues moving. All functions can be programmed individually according to taste. The entire module can be deactivated temporarily while retaining all user settings.

The kit comes with a custom designed Plug-and-Play wiring adapter for extremely simple and foolproof installation. The connection between the SmartTOP module and the vehicle electronics is made by merely connecting a couple of plugs. No wires need to be cut, soldered or spliced, leaving the car in absolute original condition after removal of the kit.
