BMW Z4 or 3 Series: The LED in the TOP CLOSE button lights up when using the one-touch feature to OPEN the top

Question:

On cars where there are two separate LEDs built in to the top switches for open and close, only the same (green) LED will light up , no matter if I OPEN or CLOSE the top. In factory condition one LED lights up for OPEN and another LED lights up for CLOSE.

Answer:

This is normal behavior. It is a result of the smartTOP module using data bus commands to control the top even when you are not holding down the button in order to make the "one-touch" feature work.
