Closing the top from the remote triggers the (factory) alarm
Problem:
Trying to close the top by remote after the car has been sitting for a while with the top down and the doors locked will trigger the factory alarm.
Cause:
When the factory alarm system is armed, the only way to disarm is is to briefly hit the unlock button on the remote. Since the top close procedure only involves pressing the lock button, the alarm unit does not disarm and gets triggered as soon as the trunk lock opens.
Solution:
An easy workaround for this is to first tap the unlock button, wait about 1 sec and then start the top close procedure. This will authenticate the key, disarm the alarm and upon pressing the lock button again (to bring the top up) will give you a 30 second "grace period" before the alarm is armed again. On some models we implemented a new method to close the top by pressing the UNLOCK button instead. Please refer to the Operation and Programming manual for details on how to use the remote.
