STLFMZ1 for SLK R170 console switch does not work after install
Problem:
After installing the STLFMZ1 module on a Mercedes SLK R170, one or some functions don't work right. Sometimes only the windows will work but the top doesn't. Using the console switch doesn't work but using the remote is OK.
Cause:
The SLK R170 is a complex installation with a lot of wires that need to be tapped and spliced into. In 9 out of 10 cases it is a simple issue of a wire being tapped incorrectly or input and output reversed on the Speed or ABS wires.
Solution:
Double check every single wire, follow them and confirm they are the correct ones. Look at the manual Step 12 and make sure, that the inputs and outputs are correct, because the top will not work without the proper ABS and SPEED signals. Also make sure the RELAY is connected correctly (Steps 5,6,7).
When giving the top open or close command from the remote, the little fan inside the box where the module is installed should turn on. That is a sign that the relay is connected correctly.
