Porsche 996: RemoteTOP does not work

Problem:
After installing the remoteTOP module, none of the functions seem to work although the setup menu (sometimes) can still be activated and all settings changed. However, the module does not react to any remote control commands.

Possible Cause:
The remoteTOP needs the extra power and ground connections that are installed using wire-taps and regular automotive spade connectors. It has been reported several times, that the remotetop will enter setup and functions can be changed, even though one of the power wires was not connectec correctly.

Solution:
Double-check the tap connectors and the metal blades of the two (red and brown) wires going to the module. Is the little plug on the module side reversed? The remoteTOP is reverse-polarity protected, but does not operate of the polarity is reversed. Check that both metal blades of the power connectors actually slide IN the slots of the power tap connectors. Many times the blade just had to be reseated to solve the problem.
