Under certain circumstances the convertible top will suddenly not work.

Problem:

The convertible top for no apparent reason does not start to open or close. No error message is displayed. Only 2 or 3 of the 4 windows start moving, sometimes even all windows start moving but still no top movement.

Cause and Solution:

If one of the window controllers signals an error, like when the pinch protection was triggered before or just a generic calibration problem, then the top controller will not activate the top mechanics for safety. It needs to ensure that all windows are down and if one of the window controllers does not report the window position properly, the top is locked out.

Recalibrate the windows: Lower them completely manually by holding the switched, raise them and lower them again. Then re-try the top operation.

If this procedure does not fix the issue and all windows do work one-touch up and one-touch down from the regular window switches then a different problem is causing the top controller to lock out.
